What we are looking for

We are seeking creative and original concepts for furniture elements that blend functionality with contemporary design. These products should be manufactured using injection molding with a single mold, ensuring an optimized production process and reduced unit costs. The products will be sold disassembled to minimize packaging dimensions and should be designed for quick and intuitive assembly, allowing users to easily put them together.
Unleash your creativity and present ideas for a collection that embodies innovation, functionality, and exceptional design quality.

Guidelines

For the correct realisation of your proposals, keep into consideration the following guidelines:

Project type
You are invited to propose a single piece of furniture or, if preferred, a collection of furniture elements designed for home use and produced through injection molding using a single mold.
The product categories include:
- Furniture (chairs, tables, shelves, etc.)
- Objects/accessories (for desk, kitchen, bathroom, etc.)
The products can be used in both indoor and outdoor contexts.
For examples of market-available products aligned with the project brief, refer to the Inspiration section of the contest.

Style and aesthetic
The style of the products must be minimalist and modern, with a strong aesthetic component that emphasizes their beauty without compromising functionality. The visual aspect should be sophisticated and refined but never overly flashy, creating furniture pieces that harmoniously integrate into contemporary spaces while maintaining a distinctive character. Avoid designs that appear low-cost; instead, focus on carefully crafted details and high-quality finishes that enhance every aspect of the product.

Colors
There are no specific restrictions regarding the colors to be used. However, if you design a collection featuring multiple colors, it is essential to select a palette with harmonious and coherent tones to ensure a balanced and appealing aesthetic outcome.

Features/functionality
The products must be designed to guarantee simple and intuitive assembly, using interlocking systems or alternative solutions that allow users to quickly put them together without the need for tools.
Additional elements made from non-plastic materials should be avoided or kept to a minimum.
Furthermore, some components could be designed to be used across multiple products in the collection, offering customization opportunities. Users should be able to easily swap parts with different shapes or colors, adapting the products to their preferences and creating unique combinations.

Dimensions
The dimensions of the proposed products must align with the standard average sizes of their respective categories, ensuring good adaptability to spaces and consistency with market expectations.
The dimensions of the disassembled products must be significantly reduced, enabling compact and optimized packaging suitable for online sales.

Production technologies
The products will be manufactured through injection molding using a single multi-cavity mold, with the goal of increasing production capacity and reducing unit costs. Individual product parts will be molded separately and then assembled by the end user.
Additionally, a single mold, besides containing the various components of a single product, can be used to produce parts for multiple products, further optimizing the production process.
Individual parts must not feature excessively deep cavities to minimize the overall height of the molds. Consequently, the dimensions of the parts along the Z-axis must not be excessive. Larger items (e.g., chairs) should be split into multiple components with limited height.

Materials and finishes
The products must be made entirely of plastic, with the option to use recycled plastic or other types of plastic to promote a more sustainable approach.
Multi-material solutions are also allowed, combining plastic with other materials through a single co-molding phase to achieve innovative functional and aesthetic solutions.
Additionally, finishes achievable during the molding process can be proposed to further enhance the aesthetic value of the products.

Context of use
The products will be designed for indoor home use, but since they are made entirely of plastic, they can also be used in outdoor settings.

Submission materials
Provide detailed descriptions and up to 5 images to effectively present your projects. Images should be in 4:3 format, with .jpg, .gif or .png file formats acceptable. The colour mode should be RGB and the maximum size of a single file should be 1 MB.
